Tassie Challenge II
On a crisp spring morning, 50 odd die hard 4wd'ers arrived at Dalgarth Park in the Asbestos Ranges for a day of fun, hills, navigation and dust. After a slightly delayed start, all teams had to be marked on their mapping skills before heading off into the great unknown.
Competitors left in all directions with thoughts of being the first to find all waypoints and complete their special stages.
For the first special stage competitors had to blindfold one driver and have the navigator instruct them around a marked course. Times varied considerably, but as not all teams chose to complete this stage, those that did were rewarded.
Out on the trails, teams found some challenging hills, tight tracks and more dust.
While some teams seemed to struggle with the navigation side of the event, all competitors were enjoying themselves and keen to help each other where possible.
Later in the day, special stage 2 was run, which consisted of teams changing 2 tyres from front to back. Once again, not all teams competed, but there were plenty of points on offer for those that did.
Finally, all teams returned to Dalgarth Park to try their 4WD on the RTI ramp while awaiting the final scores. After a small wait, the trophies, prizes and the perpetual trophy were awarded, followed by a BBQ and some social activities by the fire.
